Within the organization of the County, the Records & Licenses office is part of the Administrative Services Department in the Records, Elections & Passports Division. The Records and Elections Division is managed by James Morales, the Benton County Clerk.
In the Records and Licenses Office, you’ll find public real property records such as deeds, mortgages, liens, easements and subdivision plats, and dog licenses among other public materials kept safe for permanent retention. Marriage licenses are available, with civil marriage ceremonies performed on Tuesday afternoons.
Permanent public records are microfilmed and filed with the Oregon State Archives in Salem to ensure the continued integrity of public records.
The County Clerk's Office staff, which oversees records, licenses and elections’ services, is responsible for recording public materials. Employees also manage the Records Center, a records repository available to every department in the County, and staff the Board of Property Tax appeals.
