Several predictors of access to health care include having health insurance, having a regular primary care provider or other ongoing source of primary care, and using clinical preventive services. Health insurance provides access to health care. Persons with health insurance are more likely to have a primary care provider and to use preventive care services, such as the Pap test, immunizations, or prenatal care (Healthy People 2010).
