Benton County Public Health - Maternal and Child Health
Maternal Health
Maternal Child Health Program provides services to pregnant women, young children, and their families through three home visit programs:
A public health nurse with special training will visit you in your home. The nurse can help you find answers to questions about your pregnancy, your child's health and care, and your family's well being. There is no charge to you for these services, but the Oregon Health Plan may be billed for some services.
ALL families enrolled in home-visit programs receive:
- Periodic home visits from a public health nurse
- Culturally sensitive care
- Health, psychosocial, and environmental information
- Parent/child interaction assessment
- Assessment of environmental learning opportunities and safety
- Immunization assessment
- Health teaching
- Encouragement and support
- Help to make plans and solve problems affecting the family's health and well being
- Refer and guide you through the process of getting health care and community services
Public health nurses can:
- Show you ways to help your child grow and learn
- Help you learn what your child is telling you before he/she can talk
