The Public Health Planning and Advisory Committee (PHPAC) consists of 13 citizen members. Committee seats are designated for general consumers as well as a variety of health professionals. The Committee meets the third Wednesday of every month except July and August (may have meetings those months, if needed).
The function of the Committee is to monitor health conditions and needs of the County's residents as well as the needs and issues of the Health Department. PHPAC serves to identify unmet needs and make program recommendations, solicit community support for the Health Department, and have an ongoing role in health education through public and press relations.
The Committee consistently places disease prevention and health education as core services of the Health Department. The Committee supports health education as an important cornerstone for cost effective programs.
PHPAC members are selected from applicants to the Benton County Board of Commissioners. Interested members of the public can download a Citizen Advisory Committee application form (PDF) or request one by visiting the Commissioners' office in the Plaza building at 408 SW Monroe Avenue in downtown Corvallis or by calling 541-766-6800.
