Health PromotionPurpose: To enhance healthy lifestyles within Benton County by promoting education, outreach, and intervention programs directed to the prevention and management of chronic disease and to improve the health status of the community. Mission: To provide public health prevention equitably and professionally to all people in Benton County by engaging the community in planning, policy-making, implementing, and evaluating health prevention and promotion programs. Vision: To create a health promotion and disease prevention program that addresses the Benton County health and wellness goals as stated in our Strategic Plan Document. Goal: To develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based health promotion programs that address preventive health needs, and promote health, wellness, and safety. |
Prevention ProgramsThe Health Promotion/Disease Prevention team in the Public Health Division of the Benton County Health Department uses the following elements of effective programs: community assessment, community mobilization, education, outreach, awareness activities, and program evaluation. Community partners include working with schools, parent organizations, businesses, law enforcement, Oregon State University, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, state and federal agencies, and other health care providers.
