                       School Nursing

Registered nurses who specialize in public health care and pediatric care currently provide nursing services to public school districts in Benton County.

The programs are primarily funded through federal Medicaid money, with each district independently receiving different and variable amounts of funds.

School nursing services are based on the public health model of school nursing, designed to improve the health of the whole school community, with additional services dedicated to vulnerable groups, such as the uninsured and those living in poverty.

Primary services of school nurses are:

  • Health screening with connection to necessary medical and dental services
  • Consultation to school staff for students with complex medical needs
