The Benton County Natural Areas and Parks Department, in conjunction with three dedicated advisory committees, and successful partnerships with other agencies and the public, has created stewardship and management plans which have been adopted by the Benton County Board of Commissioners. These include primarily: "Fitton Green Open Space Natural Area Management Plan" (2000); "Fort Hoskins Historic Park Forest Stewardship Management Plan" (2000); Beazell Memorial Forest Stewardship Management Plan" (2001); and "Jackson-Frazier Wetland Management Plan" (2005 - Refinement of the 1992 Plan). In addition, the "Benton County Natural Areas & Parks Department Trail System Plan" was created in 2003, led by a Trail Focus Group.
The most recent plan up-date is the Resource Stewardship Plan, which includes Beazell Memorial Forest, Fitton Green Open Space and Fort Hoskins Historic Park. The plan was up-dated by Trout Mountain Forestry in conjunction with Benton County Natural Areas and Parks Department with the plan being approved as of April 20, 2011.
The "Benton County Parks System Comprehensive Plan" was adopted in 1995, and contains much relevant information. However, due to changes to the park system, it is out of date in several areas. To correct for this information, the 'Comp Plan' should be supplemented by reviewing other planning documents located on the website. The 'Comp Plan' is currently under review and will be updated when resources become available.
The Benton County Natural Areas and Parks Department serves the interests and pursuits of Benton County residents by providing access to natural, historic, and recreational areas and conserving, restoring and developing parkland investments.
