This document is the Courthouse Preservation Committee's strategy for artifact management.

Strategy for Artifact Management

A. Finish catalog and inventory of artifacts.

  • Complete description and condition information.
  • Hire consultant to perform evaluation condition description and actual numbering/labeling.

B. Build database and identify methodology for maintaining and updating the master list.

C. Put together policy for management of artifacts.

  • Care and maintenance
  • Use versus museum display
  • Display of artifacts (Centennial Room)
  • Care and cleaning of displays

D. Establish a renovation or curation plan for artifacts using condition information.

  • Prioritize work to be done based on condition, use etc. i.e., duplicate pictures, display copies, restore chairs, etc.
  • Work with consultant to formulate plan and policies.

E. Develop strategy to set up endowment for preservation funds.

  • Establish cash flow that allows for restoration work of existing artifacts.
  • Provide opportunity for individuals to support or contribute to fund.
