County Board purchases new facility
Thursday, February 13, 2020
On Wednesday, Chair Pat Malone signed the deed accepting transfer of the property at 4500 Research Way from OSU Foundation to Benton County. Commissioner Malone also signed documents allowing Benton County to become the landlord under the lease with FiServ. This reflects the Board’s decision to co-locate County public services and advance the vision of a “county seat” and customer service center.
At the December 19, 2019 work session board meeting, County Administrator Joe Kerby provided an overview and analysis of the facility for the Board’s consideration. Included was a detailed description of investigation and “due diligence” performed by the County’s acquisition team, including a commercial building inspection, property appraisal, verification of survey documents, review of documents requested from the owner, and engagement with the existing tenant.
At the January 7, 2020 board meeting, the Board unanimously moved to move forward with the necessary steps to purchase the facility.
