County to host face covering distribution event on Saturday, August 22

Friday, August 14, 2020

Benton County will host a face covering distribution event at nine locations throughout the county from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2020. Each site will primarily distribute KN95 face coverings. Limited amounts of child-size face coverings, face shields and FDA-approved hand sanitizer will be available as well. This will not be a COVID-19 testing event.

Eight of the distribution locations will be a drive-thru model for distributing supplies, and Corvallis Farmers’ Market will host a walk-up face covering distribution booth. An additional walk-up distribution event will be hosted at Monroe City Hall during business hours the week of August 24-28.

At the drive-thru locations, community members will follow signs directing traffic into a parking lot. From there, they will interact with volunteers to order and receive their face coverings and other supplies before leaving the parking lot. Multilingual signs with instructions will be posted at the event.

The public's health is our top priority. Supplies have been stored properly in accordance with health and safety standards. Volunteers at the distribution sites will be wearing face coverings and gloves. Community members attending the distribution event are asked to wear a face covering if they have one. We urge community members to stay home if they are feeling unwell, experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or have recently had a COVID-19 test.

Distribution locations will be staffed by volunteers from our partner organizations. Volunteers are not public health experts and will not be able to answer questions about supplies or COVID-19. If community members have questions about the event, the supplies being distributed, or COVID-19 they should call Benton’s County’s COVID-19 Call Center at 541-766-6120, or email bentoneoc.pio@gmail.com. Information about COVID-19 and the County’s response can be found at co.benton.or.us/covid19
