County partners with Crisis Text Line to offer free, 24/7 confidential crisis support

Benton County Mental Health Division is launching a new partnership with Crisis Text Line. Crisis Text Line provides nationwide 24/7, confidential free crisis counseling via text.

People in Benton County can text OREGON to 741741 to be connected to a live, trained Crisis Counselor and receive text-based, in-the-moment support during active crisis situations.

“We initiated this partnership to further expand our capacity to serve the people in Benton County. Crisis Text Line allows for faster and more accessible services because it is text-based. Texters will receive support from trained volunteers who will provide care and confidentiality right in the moment of crisis,” said Dannielle Brown, Benton County Behavioral Health Deputy Director.

Crisis Text Line is geared towards people of all ages who need in-the-moment support for issues including anxiety, substance abuse, depression, eating disorders, bullying, suicide, relationships, and more.

To date, Crisis Text Line has answered more than 80 million messages from texters across the country. Highly trained volunteers assess all texts for severity of risk, and then respond. Crisis Text Line aims to bring texters "from a hot moment to a cool calm" and collaboratively problem-solve to help the texter come up with a plan to stay safe.
