District Attorney elected chair of Latino leadership organization

District Attorney John Haroldson recently was elected chair of the Board of Directors of the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute, the nation’s largest Latino leadership development organization. Haroldson was invited to serve on the board two years ago.

The institute’s focus is developing leaders by promoting education, research and leadership development, and empowering Latinos and other groups by maximizing participation in the electoral process.

Haroldson and his wife, Maria, have encouraged college and high school students from Benton County and around Oregon to attend the institute’s national conference. In recent years, more than 100 students from Oregon have participated, including many from Oregon State.

“It’s proven to be a powerful and transformative opportunity,” Haroldson said.

The next conference is Feb. 14-17, 2019, in Chicago.
