The Community Health Centers of Benton and Linn Counties (CHC) hired Thom King as the new Executive Director, effective June 2, 2020. The hire comes in preparation for the planned retirement of current director, Sherlyn Dahl, who led the CHC for the past 14 years.
King is the current Deputy Director Clinical Operations Officer and has been with the organization for the last two years. He brings with him working knowledge of the community health center world, experience in for-profit and not-for-profit hospital settings, along with specialty and primary care organizations. King will continue to lead an organizational focus on high quality integrated care, data-informed decision making, quality improvement, and an orientation to social needs care and equity, for patients in the Benton and Linn communities.
A three-month recruitment process began in January 2020, led by a recruitment committee made up of current leadership, staff, Benton County Commissioners, Benton County Human Resources staff, alongside members of the CHC Board of Directors. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, the CHC Board of Directors hires this position; the Benton County Board of Commissioners affirms the selection. Outgoing director Sherlyn Dahl shared that, “Thom is ready for this new position. I have every confidence he will lead our organization into the future”.
Originally from South Carolina, Thom has called Oregon his home since 2013. He has a Masters of Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina.
