Stormwater - Public Participation & Involvement (Control Measure 2)

NATIONAL POLLUTANT DISCHARGE ELIMINATION SYSTEM (NPDES) STAKEHOLDER GROUP

Since 2007, Benton County staff have held monthly public stakeholder meetings with representatives from local municipalities, Watershed Councils, the Benton Soil and Water Conservation District, and others regarding local water quality issues, NPDES permitting and other projects. For information on the next meeting, please contact Benton County Public Works.

stormwater implementation group (swig)

From January 2010 through March 2011, Benton County contacted the local building community (contractors, engineers, and operators) to help review Benton County's erosion and sediment control requirements (see flyer below). Support from advisory Group members in the private sector supported Benton County in developing a program suitable to local conditions and available County resources, while controlling erosion and sediment for new construction and redevelopment.

This group commenced meeting in April 2022 and met monthly through December 2022. The group will reconvene sporadically as needed to discuss implementation of stormwater control measures.

Illicit Discharge and Detection Community Meeting

In 2021, Benton County staff developed draft Illicit Discharge, Detection and Enforcement code language as required under State and Federal law. Prior to review and subsequent adoption by the Benton County Board of Commissioners, staff held a public meeting and gained valuable input on this language. The resultant Code was enacted in February of 2022.
