Public Health - Youth Advocacy Coalition

Coming soon, Benton County Public Health will be launching a Youth Advocacy Coalition. The coalition will be youth-directed, with opportunities for students to get involved in public health and learn about healthy communities, local government, and how to make meaningful change.

If you, or any Benton County high school students you know, are interested in getting involved, please click here or email YACoalition@co.benton.or.us.

Public Health addresses many subjects, such as:

  • mental and behavioral health
  • housing and homelessness
  • equity and inclusion
  • tobacco and vaping prevention and education
  • data and epidemiology
  • food security
  • community safety
  • environmental health
  • substance misuse prevention and education

Where you live, work, learn, and play impacts your health!

Some project ideas inspired by other youth coalitions:

  • cigarette/vape cartridge cleanups in local parks
  • attend advocacy and leadership conferences
  • organize mental health and suicide prevention trainings
  • provide testimony in support or opposition of bills in the legislature
  • organize substance free alternative activities for peers
  • place vape disposal sites on high school campuses
  • coordinate parent and student information and education seminars
