08/19/22 Project Update and Traffic Alert:
Monday and Tuesday of next week, the 22nd and 23rd of August from 6:00am to 6:00pm, North Santiam Paving is scheduled to pave Gibson Hill Road. Drivers should expect extended delays especially at intersections and driveways that have recently been paved. Please use alternate routes where available and expect long delays if needing to get through the work zone. Thank you for your patience!
08/08/22 Project Update and Traffic Alert:
North Santiam Paving is scheduled to begin paving operations on Gibson Hill Road starting August 15th and going through August 23rd. Major work will consist of pavement digouts, grinding and paving of the roadway.
Longer delays should be expected and drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes where possible. The contractor will be running a pilot car and flaggers to help guide traffic through the project. It is anticipated that much of Gibson Hill will be under traffic control while the contractor is performing this work.
This project will grind the existing asphalt surface by 2-inches and replace it with new asphalt at the same depth from the roundabout at North Albany Road to Scenic Drive. The County will also install sidewalk facilities on the north side of Gibson Hill in compliance with ADA standards and replace/install storm drain facilities.
The new sidewalk will extend from Thorn Drive to Laura Vista Drive, Pulver Lane to Grandview Drive, and Broadway Street to the end of the sidewalk west of the roundabout.
North Santiam Paving Co. will begin construction June 17, 2022. Sidewalk and drainage improvement will take place first, ending in mid-August. Pavement repairs will begin mid-August to September 2, 2022. Gibson Hill Road will remain open to traffic with flagging during construction activities. Delays should be expected.
Once construction is complete, the County will initiate a jurisdiction transfer of this roadway to the City of Albany.
The City of Albany added a traffic signal at the intersection of Crocker Lane and Gibson Hill Road during 2020.
