Search and Rescue Academy

                                                       2019 SAR Academy Course Logistics

The Benton County Search and Rescue Certification Course is only offered once per year.  This course is an opportunity to learn many new skills and become certified to be deployed on mission’s, if you join one of our volunteer units.  

Schedule:  Starts on March 7th and ends April 28th.  Classes are every Thursday
night 6:00-9:00 pm and Saturdays 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.  There will be no classes
during the week of spring break.

Attendance:  It is mandatory to attend all field exercises and all classes in order to graduate.  If you have a certificate that you are skilled in a particular topic, you may be excused if unable to attend that class. 

Minors:  The academy is geared toward adults, but open to all persons age 16 and older. Individuals under 18-years-of-age must have a signed consent from a parent or legal guardian and must be accompanied by the parent or legal guardian during the class. In addition to all other registration materials, complete and sign the SAR Academy Minor Participation Authorization Form.

Deadline:  Registration deadline is February 22nd and only paid registrants will be guaranteed a seat on a first-paid, first-accepted basis. Space is limited so get your application in early!

Prerequisites: If accepted to the class, you will be required to complete two online courses for the Incident Command System ICS 100 & 700, PRIOR to the start of the Academy: http://training.fema.gov/IS/NIMS.aspx

Fee:  A $100.00 fee covers the cost of books and course materials.  Checks or money orders only made payable to Benton County Emergency Services and mailed to the below address.

To register complete these two steps: 

1)  Fill out the course registration form on line by "Clicking Here" and we  will automatically receive it.
2)  Download, Fill  out and Print  the confidential SAR Authorization and Waiver form by  "Clicking Here" .  Mail the form with your course fee to:  Benton County Sheriff's Office, SAR Coordinator, 180 NW 5th St, Corvallis, OR 97330.
